Tournament Quality Perennial Ryegrass Seed
OGSBA standard for TournamenT (R) Quality: The OGSBA test for TournamenT (R) Quality seed shall pertain to turf type perennial ryegrass seed produced by a Member of the Oregon Grass Seed Bargaining Association (OGSBA). Each lot must meet the Oregon mechanical (purity and germination) certified standards, as outlined below:
Must be free in a 5 gram sample, of contamination of certain grasses classified as "Coarse grasses" or "Undesirable grass seed (UGS)" which include the following species: Bentgrasses, Bermudagrass and Giant Bermudagrass, Poa trivialis, Meadow Fescue, Meadow Foxtail, Tall Fescue, Orchardgrass, Redtop, Timothy, Velvetgrass, and grasses of the Bromus and Wheatgrass species;
In a 50 gram sample, must be free of Poa annua and those noxious weeds listed in the Oregon Seed Certification Handbook.
Note - The improved varieties and blends of turf type perennial ryegrass seed sold under the TournamenT (R) Quality (T-Q (R)) standard of quality shall be identified by the mark being displayed either on the bag, analysis tag, purchase order or invoice.
In 1998, PRBA (OGSBA) registered the TournamenT (R) Quality trademark to be used in the marketing of perennial ryegrass seed.
